Choosing pollen-rich flowers for our gardens will help provide much-needed food for our bumblebees and other pollinating insects. These pollinating insects are in decline with one third of the 99 bee species at risk of extinction. There are many pollinator friendly plants to choose from and they will make for beautiful colourful gardens.
Despite the rain, thirty three Volunteers including six Transition Year students took to the streets last Sunday for the weekly litter pick. Most of the usual areas were covered and twelve bags in total were collected.
SUNDAY LITTER PICK
Last Sunday, January 27th, we had twenty six Volunteers out around Ballincollig for our weekly litter pick. The day was dry and fresh. Great progress was made and we completed the litter pick having covered most of our usual routes. After all the collections were done we counted twelve bags in total with three of those being segregated for recycling.
