SUNDAY LITTER PICK

Last Sunday some twenty four Volunteers including three Transition Year students gathered for the final Group Litter Pick for 2018. Welcome to the group Jack, a new Transition Year student Volunteer.  Most of the usual areas were covered and twelve bags were collected four of which were segregated for recycling.

During the week Volunteers did litter picks on Main Street and from that there was one bag of litter and one bag of mixed recyclables. Two Volunteers picked outside the designated areas and between them they collected another bag of litter.

WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE STAFF AT THE ORIEL HOUSE HOTEL FOR LOOKING AFTER US THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

CE/TUS WORK GROUP

This week saw the group carry out work similar to the previous week……sorting waste, collecting leaves in the Coolroe Meadows area, finishing the stone and bark mulch in the tunnel and on the bedding area from Westgate to Innishmore. Repairs to the walls in the allotment were completed. Also, an experiment was set up in one of the compost bays to see if the process for breaking down leaves could be speeded up.

THE YEAR AHEAD

The first Litter Pick of the new year will be carried out on Sunday 6th January, 2019. From this date on, Ballincollig Tidy Towns will be working throughout the year on various projects to improve the Town of Ballincollig.

If you are interested in joining us any Sunday just come along to Quish’s SuperValu West End where we meet up at 11.00 am for our weekly litter pick.
