SUNDAY LITTER PICK
Last Sunday was a lovely Spring day which made it much easier and more pleasant for our litter pickers. There were twenty nine volunteers covering most of Ballincollig. In all fifteen bags were collected, nine of waste and six recyclable.
This proved another very productive week for this team as they tackled a variety of jobs. The work included deadheading the Hydrangeas and weeding around them , clearing the leaves from the car park behind Main Street and finishing the pathway from Westgate to Community Drive. The team also had time to cut the grass near Poulavone.
This week we collected two bags of green waste from a kerb and boundary clean up in one estate.
Wonderful work was done on the refurbishment of the railway related switch gear which is available to view in Carriganarra Estate. Great to see this link to days gone by in Ballincollig being maintained. Huge credit is due to the residents for their interest and care in this regard.
END OF AN ERA
For many many years Downs SuperValu has been an integral part of the business community in Ballincollig. Their support of many sporting and voluntary groups in Ballincollig and surrounding areas was vital. The SuperValu will remain in business under new ownership. Ballincollig Tidy Towns wishes the Downs family every success for the future and we acknowledge with appreciation all they have done through the years.
It’s nearly that time of year again for the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in Ballincollig. This has proven to be a very popular event year on year. And again this year will not disappoint. Should anyone be willing to help out with set up on the day, contact the Parade Committee.
We are currently preparing for the Ballincollig Tidy Towns 2018 AGM. Members will only be permitted to attend. We encourage anyone interested in attending to contact us with regard to becoming a member.
