December is normally a very busy month for the Ballincollig Scout Group, Parents/Friends and Youth Members as they would be preparing for both the Annual Christmas Bazaar and the Annual Scout and Guide Toy Giving Mass.
Although all meetings and activities have been suspended due to the Coronavirus, our Scouts and Youth Members have been busy working on a very special project.
“Santa Shoeboxes for Seniors” in association with the Westgate Foundation. Shoeboxes were wrapped, filled with non-perishable goods together with a letter or card.
A huge ‘Thank You’ to everyone who dropped off “Santa Shoeboxes for Seniors” to our Scout Hall. In total a whopping Seventy-Five Boxes.
Some of the Scouts pictured with a selection of the donated Boxes.
They were dropped to Westgate today Wednesday (16 December) by Ronan, Jamie and Ryan where they were received by Norma Gayer and Julie Murphy.
The Shoeboxes will be distributed by the Westgate Foundation and Ballincollig Meals on Wheels.
Julie Murphy said that they were “blown away by the generosity and goodwill shown by the scouting groups and their families” and wanted to thank everybody. She went on to say that their clients and members would be absolutely thrilled with these beautifully wrapped Shoeboxes.
