The Bank of Ireland National Enterprise Town Awards 2019 saw Ballincollig win in the City category. The awards recognise and celebrate community groups and businesses working together to help drive growth, build thriving communities and help create jobs.
Ballincollig was one of seventy two towns from around the country to take part this year. They were judged on the range and extent of businesses, innovation and new technologies, social enterprises, the town’s attractiveness, partnerships with stakeholders and overall community support.
The National Enterprise Town Awards campaign was led by Ballincollig Business Association together with Ballincollig Tidy Towns. Ballincollig was also shortlisted in the Rising Star category. Along with being presented with a trophy, Ballincollig Business Association was also presented with a cheque for €10,000 which will be used for initiatives to further develop the town, boost tourism and drive the local economy. The town has transformed in recent years and it is encouraging to see new businesses and shops open on a regular basis.
Ballincollig Business Association Chairperson Emer Cassidy said she was delighted to win the award and to get recognition for all the hard work and effort various people put in to make Ballincollig a great place in which to work and live.She said she was thrilled with the show of support from local businesses, community groups and schools that helped win this award. The experience of the competition was fantastic she said. She also acknowledged the support of Cork City Council this year.
