On Monday morning Adrian, John and Gay began work on the Link Road cutting back overhanging briars and dead leaves from the base of the fence. Removing the briars will make it safer for all the people who use it every day. A total of 4 one-tonne bags of briars and leaves were removed.
On Tuesday Adrian and Jimmy worked in Sunningdale where they removed weeds overhanging briars and ivy, 8 bags in total.
LITTER PICKS
On Sunday morning, 28 Volunteers came out for the Sunday Morning Litter Pick. They were joined by some very hard-working Transition Year students.
A special welcome to Rhea and Jayne, Ballincollig Tidy Towns’ newest Volunteers.
Pat, one of our Volunteers was busy collecting bags and bringing them to the Allotment. He collected 15 bags of General Litter which was then sorted on Monday at the Allotment. He collected 1 bag of Plastic and 2 bags of Cans. He also collected 1 bag of Leaves from the residents of Leo Murphy Terrace and 2 bags of Leaves from work done in Inishmore.
Following the hour’s litter pick, 20 of the Volunteers gathered at The Plaza where they relaxed and enjoyed a well-deserved coffee/tea. Our TY students enjoyed some lovely hot chocolate.
