On Saturday morning last, some 200,000 people in Ireland and across the world took part in this year’s Darkness Into Light event, raising awareness for suicide, mental health and self harm. Ballincollig’s Darkness Into Light was a great success with in excess of 2,000 people taking part. The Tidy Towns’ Volunteers played their part in the preparation leading up to the event while also being involved during the morning preparations. Many were busy placing hundreds of night lights along a section of the route. It took several hours to light and place these but the result was perfect. A community working together always mindful of the end goal is what makes our walk such a success.
