It is disappointing to see that the FREEPOST DONATE BOX made available for book/magazine/jigsaw donations has had very little traction.
The Coronavirus has dealt the elderly and most vulnerable a terrible blow and has resulted in so many spending the past months with little or no visitors from family or friends. Now that we are in our second lockdown the loneliness, detachment and isolation feel much worse than before. The darker evenings and disappointing weather make everything more difficult for everyone across every age group.
An Post wanting to bring a little joy has very kindly offered to deliver for free, a package (not more than 2kg in weight), letter or card to residents of Nursing and Care Homes and those living alone. All people need to do is write FREEPOST on the envelope where the stamp is normally placed.
In line with this, Ballincollig Tidy Towns wanting to do its bit and spread a little joy in the community has made a FREEPOST DONATE BOX available for people to drop in a new book or some new magazines or a jigsaw with a treat (a packet of biscuits or some sweets) for an elderly person in one of the Care/Nursing Homes or living alone in Ballincollig.
The donate box is placed at Pat Clarkes Ballincollig Tool Hire, Innishmore (087) 6348807. So please drop in your items and Ballincollig Tidy Towns will do the rest.
