THE RESULTS OF THE 2013 ENTENTE FLORALE COMPETITION WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY 27th SEPTEMBER
Entente Florale Europe
is a European competition for Towns and Villages. Each participating Country puts forward a representative Town and Village. The Town and Village are visited by the Jury and an assessment is made. The competition was founded in 1975, initially between Great Britain and France. At present there are twelve member countries and further applications are being processed.
The Aim of the Competition
The overall aim of the competition is the improvement of the quality of life for local urban and village communities. To this end the competition fosters:
• the greening of towns and villages
• flowers, shrubs, green spaces, parks
• development which is environmentally and ecologically sensitive
• educational and communication initiatives which promote environmental awareness.
This year, Ballincollig is extremely proud to have been picked to represent Ireland in the Large Town category of the competition. Tidy Towns held its first information meeting on 8 April and plans to have another shortly. Watch this site for details.
Judging will be on Friday, 26 July, when a panel of International Judges will spend the day in Ballincollig. We need everyone in Ballincollig to help get our town recognised as one of the best in Europe. You can help, even if its only by ensuring that your own house or premises is neat and tidy. Thank you
