WEBSITE
Why not visit our Ballincollig Tidy Towns website www.ballincolligtidytowns.ie It is full of news and past photographs, projects both completed and in progress, our Work Nights and we also have a very informative page on Biodiversity.
CHURCH GATE COLLECTION
Special thanks are due to the sixteen Volunteers who assisted with our Annual Church Gate Collection. Once again we got great support from the people of Ballincollig. We are grateful for that and for the encouraging comments on the work we do in Ballincollig Tidy Towns.
WORK NIGHTS
The Tuesday and Thursday Work Nights saw more than twenty Volunteers put in well over thirty hours clearing kerbside weeds and edging grass margins in the Poulavone Roundabout area. They also completed litter picks each evening to keep up the high standard. Painting at the West End was also completed and this has made a huge difference to the area.
SUNDAY LITTER PICK
On Sunday last, the 25th August, twenty six Volunteers turned out for the weekly Sunday morning litter pick. Spreading themselves out around Ballincollig, the majority of the
usual areas were visited in the hour to ensure all stray litter was cleared. We collected ten bags of litter and three of recycling. During the previous week Volunteers were active litter picking each day collecting five bags of waste and two of recyclable materials.
CE/TÚS WORK GROUP
This was another busy week with grass cutting at Community Drive, clearing verges at Station Road and Leo Murphy/Link Road and sorting waste at the Allotment site. They also collected bags of green waste from three Estates during the week. Their work each week is really helping to keep Ballincollig looking its best.
OTHER WORKS
Weeding the Hydrangea bedding area was tackled by the eight Volunteers from VMWare and they were ably assisted by our CE/TÚS Work Group.
Watering of planters and bedding areas was required and four Volunteers put in over fifteen hours ensuring this was done. As September approaches, the plants are still very strong and in great colour.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
If you are interested in joining us any Sunday please come along to Quish’s SuperValu West End where we meet up at 11am for our weekly Litter Pick. Also we are always looking for extra Volunteers to join us on our Work Nights Tuesday and/or Thursday. We meet at 7pm outside the AIB on Main Street.
