In advance of this the White Horse Gospel Choir and Comhlatas Ballincollig will be performing.

Cleaning at Coolroe
The information sign at the site of the Lime Kiln at Coolroe was looking shabby. We had planned to power wash it but Anne one of our volunteers sorted it the old fashioned way…. Good old elbow grease. She made a fine job of cleaning the sign.

Preparing for the Presidential Visit
We have been busy preparing for the visit of President Michael D Higgins. Work this week concentrated on the area where the National Tidy Towns Plaque will be unveiled beside our Entente Florale Medal at the site of the Old Coach House which is now home to Starbucks. John Buckley has been very busy with very early mornings working on this area and the street planters.
The difference is incredible.

Bikers, Buns and Blooms 🌻
Our Lady of Good Counsel are fundraising to install a Garden Room at their Special School for pupils aged 4 to 18 with Moderate Intellectual Disabilities and ASD. Located alongside the Regional Park, Scoil Barra, Ballincollig Community School and Christ our Light Church, OLGC Special School is at the heart of the Ballincollig Community for over 22 years.
The essential addition of a garden Room will provide an accessible, inclusive, and nature-connected learning environment.
Supporting Key Curricular Areas: This Garden Room would provide a space to support and enhance our core life skills programs, including:
- – Language and Communication.
- – Music and Movement.
- – Social Personal and Health Education (SPHE)
- – Horticulture.
- – Visual Arts.
- – Physical Education and Wellbeing
A Life-Changing Impact: Pupils benefit enormously from structured outdoor learning. A Garden Room would offer:
- – A calm, low-stimulation environment for pupils who experience sensory overload.
- – A safe, weatherproof space to engage with nature year-round, removing barriers to outdoor learning.
- – A stepping stone to greater independence, fostering essential life and social skills in a setting that meets their needs.
Your support for this project would not just fund a building; it would create a sanctuary where our pupils can grow, thrive, and build skills that will empower them for life.
Their goal is to raise €40,000 to install the Garden Room along with the necessary groundwork. Your support can make a significant difference!
