Newsletter 10 May 2024

Sunny Sunday at last

On a lovely bright Sunday 25 volunteers plus 3 Transition Year Students were busy for our Weekly Litter Pick.

Our volunteers collected 10 bags of litter which was segregated on Monday morning. Denis and the TY Students were working on the DC’s for Bees Orchards at Cleburne Mews and Denis then emptied the Gum and Butt Bins.

Our Volunteers covered a huge amount of ground from Carrigrohane to Classes and everything in between including parts of The Regional Park.

Afterwards there was a welcome Cuppa and beautiful fruit cake and treats in The Plaza in Time Square.

Time Square Revamp

The planters at Time Square have been repaired and are being repainted and will be planted shortly. It certainly brightens up this busy area.

Worknight Duo in action

Gay and Eoin were very busy on Tuesday night with the good old spade and brush cleaning away weeds at the High Footpath at Eastgate. What a difference they made in a short period of time.

Old Fort Road

Sunday and Jimmy were out early this week and their first job was to do some more edging on the Old Fort Road. As usual the difference is very noticeable and all the edging removed is recycled.

We are Back – Worknights

Our Tuesday and Thursday Worknights are back. They were delayed due to the weather unfortunately. Tuesday night we had 14 Volunteers out the majority of which were on Poulavone Roundabout preparing the area for additional planting this year. The ground is still very wet but we still managed to get a lot done. It was nice being able to get back out and getting jobs done. The other teams were working at Eastgate and the other team was litter picking.

We meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm and as always we welcome anyone who would like to help.
