Busy Sunday
On a lovely bright Sunday morning we had 33 volunteers plus 3 Transition Year Students out for our Weekly Works.
Pat collected 20 bags of litter which included 2 from during the week. He also collected 1 bags of glass and 1 bag of cans.
We covered all the usual area and a lot of The Regional Park. Unfortunately in the Park a lot of people are bagging their dog poo and then throwing the bag into the bushes or the trees which is totally unacceptable.
There are plenty of bins in the park to dispose of it properly.
So please USE THEM.

Busy TY Students
On Sunday morning Denis and Brigid took the TY Students and Cleaned around the entrance to the Old Square and Chapel Lane.
In the space of 45 minutes they had everything cleaned and it certainly made a difference.

Watch this space!!
Over the years Ballincollig Tidy Towns has received many awards and these awards are recognition of our amazing Community.
We recently approached the Management at Castlewest Shopping Centre to see if they would allow us display our medals etc. They gladly agreed and we have invested in a new display cabinet and are working on getting everything together and once all sorted we will unveil it for everyone to see.
It will be nice to see the various awards and hopefully in the future we will be able to put everything on display.
We are very grateful to Castlewest for this opportunity.

Trophies on Tour
This week Ballincollig’s Two All Ireland Trophies visited O’Donovan Agri Environmental Services at their shop in Ballincollig Commercial Park.
John O’Donovan and his Team has been a fantastic supporter and sponsor of our work in Ballincollig Tidy Towns. Their sizeable sponsorship of Poulavone Roundabout over the last two years has allowed us to carry out planting here that will enhance this iconic entrance to Ballincollig. We are indebted to John and the team at O’Donovan Agri Environmental Services.

Hydrangea Works
All this week our Team were working on tidying up around the Hydrangeas from Carrigrohane to Poulavone. We were waiting on a group to assist with this project but unfortunately they left us down so we had to put all other projects on hold to get this work done. Fair play to everyone involved because this is a very big job.

Working with An Post
Last year we worked very closely with the staff from A Post and when we identified post boxes that needed some TLC they were excellent in assisting us and very obliging.
In the safe way this year we have identified a box which is used to hold post for the post delivery staff. This box was not in great condition and we asked them to paint it.
Within days they addressed the issue and instead of painting it removed it as it is now not required. A great example of groups working together.

Bad Dumping
Last Sunday two of our volunteers carried out a litter pick and cleared the area behind the fence on Old Fort Road, opposite the Apartments.
This area has unfortunately become a dumping ground. Marzewa and her husband did a remarkable job as shown by the pictures.
It’s such a pity that people are dumping their rubbish in this way.
