A Hectic Sunday

Sunday morning was a hectic one with a very large turnout.

We had 36 volunteers plus 5 Transition Year Students. A big welcome to our newest volunteer Carol who joined us on Sunday.

We covered all the usual areas and large areas of the Regional Park on Sunday.

In total Pat collected 14 bags of litter 2 of which were from during the week’s litter picks.

This is before the litter is segregated but says a lot about how much the level of litter has decreased.

In the past Pat would have been taking 2 or 3 trips to HQ to drop off bags of rubbish.

Nowadays it only takes one trip and even at that the jeep is only half full.

Great credit to our community for making a difference.

We adjourned to The Plaza where we were treated to a delicious cuppa and biscuits.

There was a surprise Birthday Cake for our volunteer Margaret Keogh who celebrated her birthday this week. Congratulations Margaret.

Fantastic Transition Year Students

On Sunday Denis and Bridget took the 5 Transition Year Students and they did an excellent job washing the recycling bins at the Car Park behind Quish’s Centra. The difference was amazing.

Tree Nursery

On Sunday morning John and Anne took the opportunity of a beautiful Spring morning to do some work at our Tree Nursery in HQ. They transplanted some of the Hazel saplings in the nursery and planted the 4 Oaks we got from Mazewna one of our volunteers. The nursery is beginning to fill up and is constantly being monitored.

Productive Monday

On Monday morning Gay, Keith, Sunday and Bikunda spent the morning working on the Westcliff bed. They made great progress trimming back shrubs and removing leaves. They filled four tonne bags. We hope to finish work on this huge bed next week.

Tuesday Blue Skies

On Tuesday morning Ger K, Keith, Sunday and Bikunda removed a trailer load of ivy that had fallen off the back wall of The Cloisters on the Link Road.

They cut the grass a metre in from the footpath and edged the footpath. A beautiful Spring morning with blue skies and the beautiful smell of freshly cut grass and a huge amount of work done.

The Regional Park continues to provide an amazing experience for visitors and for regular visitors. The continual work in the park enhances it even further.

Great credit to Cork City Council Parks Department for their dedication and commitment to the Regional Park.

Vince & Bikunda brought 5 no tonne bags and some smaller bags for recycling.

When they were finished in Carriganarra they had filled

34 small bags and 2 x Tonne bags which were also taken for recycling

Great work from all the team.

☘️Thank you Body Image ☘️

Over the last few months we have been having issues with the paintwork on the roof of our van. We sought advice from Cornel and the Team at Body Image in Ballincollig Commercial Park.

It is going to be a big job but we needed the van for the St Patrick’s Day Parade

Cornel asked for the van overnight and we collected it on Thursday. The Team at Body Image did a great job on the van and it looking a lot better.

When we asked for the bill we were told that they were not going to charge BTT and thanked us for the work we do in Ballincollig.

It was a very kind gesture by the Team at Body Image and we are extremely grateful.

Thank you Body Image
