CAN YOU PLEASE DONATE??
The blood supply is currently low and with a high demand for blood from our hospitals nationally, it is imperative that we continue to maintain the blood supply.

Another Birthday Sunday
On Sunday morning we had 34 Volunteers out for our Weekly Litter Pick including our newest Volunteer Peter O’Leary.
Ger K was on collections this morning and he collected 13 bags of litter. Unfortunately two of these bags were domestic rubbish which some “smart “ person left with our volunteers bags. Needless to say we have a good idea who this person is!!
We adjourned to the Plaza for our Cuppa and Chat.
Congratulations to Jimmy Shorten whose birthday was celebrated at the Plaza compliments of Mary and her Team.

Sunday Watering
On Sunday evening the watering was completed at Eastgate Planters. Thankfully the flowers are settling in nicely and beginning to develop. We also filled the 4 tiered towers and The Parklet. We only used just under 300 litres which was surprising.

A busy Monday
On Monday morning Bikunda, Vince and Sunday were kept busy.
Bikunda and Vince watered the planters starting at the White Horse and near Maxol and the Innishmore Junction.
Meanwhile Sunday stayed back at the HQ sorting out the weekend rubbish as well as cutting the grass in the allotment.
Bikunda and Vince brought a van load of leaves bags for recycling.
They then brought 3 containers of bottles for recycling which had been collected from our litter picks.

Monday on Old Fort Road
Great work done by Sunday on cleaning the verges by the footpath near the Carraig Centre. He collected 4 plastic bags of weeds.

60th Anniversary Celebration
On this Wednesday, we will mark the 60th Anniversary of Ballincollig Tidy Towns.
We will celebrate the fantastic work by so many like-minded individuals who have carried on the great work of Ballincollig Tidy Towns during these 60 years.
We also remember those who have gone before us but whose legacy lives on.
Our community has transformed in those years but thankfully we still have the magnificent Village Feel.

Tuesday Morning Work
On Tuesday morning Jimmy and Bikunda did great work on the road to the GAA Club cutting back hedges and briars.
They filled 9 no tonne bags of cuttings & leaves.
We still have a small amount of work to be do here in order to put the finishing touches to it.
Following their work the difference was remarkable.

Tuesday on Poulavone
On Tuesday evening we had 20 volunteers working on Poulavone Roundabout. We were cutting the grass and weeding the flower beds. We had a very productive evening but everything was made easier by the assistance of one of our volunteers Ray who brought his Ride On Mower.
The Roundabout was looking spectacular when we finished.
We were glad we did it that evening because the following evening they were filming at the Roundabout for The Young Offenders.

Great Job – Noah
One of our very hardworking young volunteers found a massive weed on Poulavone on our Tuesday Worknight. It was definitely the biggest found on the night.

Cork Summer Show
Taoiseach Micheàl Martin visited the O’Donovan Agri Environmental stand at the Cork Summer Show and got to hold the National Tidy Towns All Ireland Trophy. He was very complimentary about the the work of BTT and recalled presenting awards for us nearly 20 years ago. Photo courtesy of Brian Lougheed

Productive Thursday
On Thursday morning Keith weeded Compos Bays 2 & 3. While he was doing this Bikunda and Ger put up the new planter box opposite the White Horse.
We now have checked and secured all the flower inserts in the planters.

More Boxes being transformed
This week Artist Kevin O’Brien was busy decorating more utility boxes. He was working on 3 near Poulavone Roundabout. They have turned out beautifully. On Tuesday evening a number of our volunteers had the opportunity to watch Kevin at work.

The Thursday Trio
On Thursday evening Gay, Eoin and Ben did an amazing job updating the planting in the Parklet. We had to update it as some slugs made short work of our plants. Lesson Learned!!

Thursday Worknight
On Thursday Evening we had 15 volunteers out on the Aylesbury project. In beautiful sunshine we cut back the overhanging briars on the ditch from the Traffic Lights at Coolroe Meadows junction to Alysbury and continued on edging the grass verge towards Pairc Cul Rua. A fantastic evenings work.
