Sunny Sunday 😎

On a beautiful sunny Sunday morning we had 28 volunteers out and they were divided up into three teams. The main group were litter picking while more were cleaning the Street Furniture while more were washing signs.

Those litter picking collected only 9 bags of litter which will be segregated

Pat also collected 2 bags of green waste from Beech Road

A lot of those out enjoyed the Sunday morning cuppa at the Plaza alfresco because of the beautiful weather.

Keep Cup Initiative Launch

Ballincollig Business Association are excited to invite you to the launch of the Ballincollig Eco-Friendly Cup Campaign! This event will take place at Nosh next Monday July 1st at 10:00 AM.

Their campaign aims to eliminate single-use cups in-store by implementing the 2GoCup Deposit and Return scheme for takeaway drinks. This initiative is a significant step towards reducing waste and promoting sustainability within our community.

Join the BBA to learn more about how this scheme works and how it can benefit both your business and our environment. You can find more details about the 2GoCup system here.

We look forward to seeing you there and working together towards a greener Ballincollig.

Volunteers

On any BTT event be it a Worknight, litter pick, meeting or the Sunday morning cuppa the single thing that always stands out is the camaraderie and the inclusivity. The vast majority of our volunteers would never have known each other if they didn’t weren’t involved in BTT. On Tuesday night on Poulavone Roundabout we had volunteers from Brazil, Limerick, Westmeath, Carlow , West Cork, Hungary, Mayo, HongKong, Kilkenny, Waterford, Cork city. Everyone getting on and enjoying themselves while working away merrily.

What a great organisation Tidy Towns is.

Poulavone Beds

On Tuesday evening after a lot of hard work by our Teams on Monday and Tuesday mornings we eventually got to plant the seeds in the two prepared beds on Poulavone Roundabout. With expert advice and guidance from Stephen and Alan from Clockhouse Nurseries who also very kindly sponsored the seeds and items associated with this project we managed to get them in place. Now we just have to wait and see. Unlike most people we would like just a little rain to give them a good start. Watch these spaces. 🐝🐝

Transformed

This week more of the boxes around Ballincollig were transformed by artist Kevin O’Brien. The difference is absolutely astounding and great credit is due to Kevin O’Brien who has drawn up the designs. We look forward to seeing more of these in the coming weeks.

Congratulations to the students, teachers and managers of Scoil Mhuire on the raising of their most recent Green Flag. A very proud moment for the school.

Eastgate Planters

On Tuesday evening Eoin and Gay spent a good deal of time doing a tidy up and sorting the flowers and planters at Eastgate. These planters give a lovely display each year and the lads did a great job on them and also removed dead foliage on the wall under them.

Footpaths Extended

Our Thursday Worknight concentrated on Edging the footpaths in Coolroe Meadows. Our Edging Machine certainly made a huge difference and we estimate we collected 75 square metres of edging from this section of the footpaths

The difference is incredible and in 1 Hour it was transformed.

We were thrilled to get assistance from some residents.

The lack of spraying the edges is so evident in a very positive way and everyone involved has to be commended for their support. This positive attitude is an inspiration to others.

Busy Thursday

On Thursday Jimmy and Sunday took the Weedhex Machine and did a very noticeable job on the entrance to Quish’s SuperValu West Village and on the Traffic Islands near Maxol. The machine certainly got the job a lot quicker.
