We in Ballincollig Tidy Towns are delighted with the news that Ballincollig is one of the towns selected to receive a Parklet. It will be placed on Main Street and will definitely enhance the streetscape.
The parklet will be similar to the parklet currently on Douglas Street in Cork City. It will incorporate seating and pollinator-friendly planting. It will be available for public use and will include signage indicating that it is a public space.
The parklet will be funded and installed by Cork City Council and the Parklet Partner, in this case Ballincollig Tidy Towns, will be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the parklet and its planting.
It will initially be in place for one year. After that year, it will be evaluated to consider whether it should be kept in place for another year, replaced with more permanent seating, or moved to a new location.
