This week Cork County Council handed over their final project in the Regional Park to Cork City Council.
This project was the laying a connection path of almost 1km to the 20 acre amenity land which has been planted with trees and walking trails built in Fionn Laoi.
This new section joins what is known as the Eastern entrance near the GAA Club to the path near Fionn Laoi.
The new route is finished to a very high standard and as you walk along the path, you will see more of the history of the site, passing blast walls and a reconstructed mill building (which unfortunately has been damaged by anti-social behaviour) opening up this area for all to enjoy and appreciate.
Walking past the huge mill stones you can almost imagine the amount of work that must have gone on in the Ballincollig Royal Gunpowder Mills.
