A Splash Of Colour
February has proven to be a very mild month with more than a touch of Spring in the air. The first of the Spring flowers can be seen along the streets in Ballincollig. The colours are lovely and vibrant and they give a lovely lift to the whole town.

Ballincollig Today
Those of us who live here always refer to Ballincollig as “The Village”, an indication that, as a town, we have managed to retain our identity, even though we are almost a suburb of Cork City. The largest industries in Ballincollig are IT related, EMC and VMWare, but you can find a full range of industries, services and shops here. While not noted as a Tourist Town, Ballincollig has much to offer the visitor. You can explore the Regional Park, Ireland’s largest Industrial Heritage site, containing a skate park, pitches, a multi-user games area and a permanent orienteering course (http://www.corko.net/ballincollig_poc) in about 140 acres of mature woodland. You might also like to stroll on one of the Ballincollig Gunpowder Trails (http://www.corkcoco.ie/co/pdf/828779554.pdf). The nearby Inniscarra Reservoir is home to the National Rowing Centre (http://www.rowingireland.ie/national-rowing-centre-4/), the Inniscarra Sailing & Kayaking Club (http://corksailing.com/), the Cork Powerboat & Waterski Club (http://waterskiireland.com/) and offers excellent bream, rudd, bream-rudd hybrid angling, having hosted a number of international competitions (http://www.fishinginireland.info/coarse/southwest/inniscarra.htm)
Our Mission
The Tidy Towns movement (http://www.tidytowns.ie/welcome.php) is not all about collecting rubbish and planting colourful summer bedding. We hope this site will give you some insight into the work of our 70+ volunteers and the Trojan work they undertake in order to achieve 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze medals in the National Competition over the past 8 years.
