Those of us who live here always refer to Ballincollig as “The Village”, an indication that, as a town, we have managed to retain our identity, even though we are almost a suburb of Cork City. The largest industries in Ballincollig are IT related, EMC and VMWare, but you can find a full range of industries, services and shops here. While not noted as a Tourist Town, Ballincollig has much to offer the visitor. You can explore the Regional Park, Ireland’s largest Industrial Heritage site, containing a skate park, pitches, a multi-user games area and a permanent orienteering course (http://www.corko.net/ballincollig_poc) in about 140 acres of mature woodland.
