Spring is finally here and dandelions are the bees first food. This was a honey bee and the pollen on her legs was from dandelions. This bee died from the weedkiller that was sprayed on the dandelions to kill them. What we see as weeds, nature sees as food. Please don’t spray weeds. If you want to get rid of the weeds do not do so until the blackberries are in bloom. In certain areas weeds, flowers and fruit trees are bees only source of food until the middle of June. There are far more weeds than there are flowers or fruit trees, and these are their only food source. No bees, no food crops for us and as a result, we all starve.
