Images Of Ballincollig Past 
Tomorrow, Friday 29th March, Ballincollig Tidy Towns will launch a new page “Images of Ballincollig Past”. We are hoping to create a collection for everyone to enjoy. Pictures that will awaken memories and start conversations. Also those that will highlight the many changes that have occurred in Ballincollig through the decades. If you have photographs of people, shops, buildings, streets, clubs, groups, occasions etc. through the years, send them to us at ‘imagesofballincolligpast@gmail.com’.
Website News
As many of you are aware, our website is undergoing several changes. Our aim with these changes is for the site to become the ‘go to’ place for “up to date news” and all that is happening in Ballincollig especially in Ballincollig Tidy Towns. Take some time to look through the various pages as we are updating and adding to them on a daily basis.
Litter Picks
Last Sunday was a lovely spring day and we had twenty eight Volunteers, including our five Transition Year students, picking litter on the weekly litter pick. In total fourteen bags of waste and five of recycling were collected. Most of the usual areas were covered in the hour.
A number of Volunteers were also active picking litter each day, including the Bank Holiday Monday, From these litter picks six bags of waste and one of recycling were collected.
CE/TUS Work Group
The group were very busy this week with the first of the grass being cut in some areas. Work continued at the allotment which included breaking down the St. Patrick’s Day floats. Sadly, it was James’ final week with the group. We appreciate all the work he did over the past twelve months and wish him the best in his next venture.
Other News 
Heathers were planted at Poulavone to compliment existing planting there. These, together with the Hydrangeas, complete this piece of road and offer a lovely entrance to Ballincollig.
New inserts were tested for the railing planters, and with some modification, they will work fine. This will make the transition of our seasonal planting schemes work much better for us.
Last Thursday, Ballincollig Tidy Towns was happy to be in the position to give a little back to the community. We presented a Gift Voucher to Ballincollig Family Resource Centre for their program ‘introducing children to gardening’..
Looking Ahead
As we head into April, Tidy Towns groups nationwide are participating in the National Spring Clean initiative. We in BTT hope to push this initiative in various ways in the coming weeks. We will be encouraging residents, businesses and the community in general, to support us in this endeavour. Projects undertaken over the month will also count towards Ballincollig’s contribution to the National initiative.
Looking For Volunteers 
If you are interested in joining us any Sunday just come along to Quish’s SuperValu West End where we meet up at 11.00 am for our weekly litter pick.
With the clocks going forward at the weekend, the evenings will be brighter for longer and so BTT Volunteers will be out in force tackling projects. There will be plenty of work to be done throughout the coming months, so come along to one of our work evenings. These evenings will be announced in the next few weeks.
