LITTER PICK
We carried out our last “official” litter pick for 2022 and there were 22 volunteers plus 3 Transition Year students out covering a wide area.
As is usual, several Volunteers carried out various litter picks during the week. When all the litter collected from them were put with Sunday’s amount it yielded 1 bag of cans 1 bag of Glass, 1 bag of Plastic and 5 bags of Green Recycling.
Our TY students and 2 of our Volunteers did a fantastic job clearing footpaths of pebbles from the graveled area at Eastgate and also weeding around the area.
CHRISTMAS CHEER
Following Sunday morning’s litter pick our Volunteers and Transition Year students gathered at The Plaza. Our Volunteers enjoyed beautiful Mulled Wine and Mince Pies while our TY students enjoyed Hot Chocolate and Chocolate Cake.
We would like to thank the staff at The Plaza for the wonderful spread they prepared for us.
SANTA CAME TO TOWN
Sunday last Ballincollig Tidy Towns Volunteers had a very special guest gatecrash their get together after their final litter pick for 2022. Santa Clause lifted the groups mood and was made an honorary Volunteer. He was presented with a high visibility jacket to be able to do his own litter picking safely in the North Pole.
WEEK’S WORK
Adrian, John and Ger did a fantastic job cleaning the footpaths in Coolroe Meadows on Wednesday.
Before & after photos below show the difference their work made.
20 bags of leaves were removed for composting.
We in Ballincollig Tidy Towns appreciate all the dedicated work these men do each week.

THE YEAR THAT WAS
As 2022 draws to a close Ballincollig Tidy Towns is so proud of the community’s achievement of a 10th gold medal at the SuperValu National Tidy Towns Competition with an increase in our overall points as well.
There are so many people and groups to thank. As a community we can be very proud of this achievement made possible by our Volunteers and the City Council staff both in the Local Office and in the Regional Park.
We thank the various Residents Associations who continually carry out work in their areas. This has made such a difference.
Our Sponsors make it possible for BTT to carry out various projects throughout the year and their support is so important to us.
On a sad note, we lost our dear friend and Volunteer Tony. His passing has left a huge void in Ballincollig Tidy Towns and he is missed every day.
2023 will be an important year for us. We need to get as many people as possible on board as Volunteers and also have more people join the committee to assist us.
For now, everyone in Ballincollig Tidy Towns wishes the Ballincollig community a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas.
