SUNDAY LITTER PICK
Last Sunday saw twenty nine Volunteers out for the weekly litter pick. It was a lovely fine morning and most of the usual areas were covered. Twelve bags of refuse, four of which were segregated for recycling, were collected.
Two Volunteers carried out litter picks on the approach road and collected one bag of refuse. During the week a couple of Volunteers picked litter in a couple of litter black spots and collected ten bags of recyclable materials and three bags of waste.
Also during the week litter was picked on the Main Street most days and from that we had three bags of waste and two of recycling.
CE/TÚS WORK GROUP
The workers got through a huge amount of work from sorting waste, turning the compost, painting planters, pulling weeds at Poulavone, clearing up the bed on Greenfields Road, cutting grass and brushing up broken glass.
RESIDENTIAL
Residents have been very active cleaning areas and grass cutting. The clearing of the entrance to Aylesbury was a huge undertaking. Cork County Council arranged for the trimming of trees near lights on the Main Road near to the Westgate complex. This work is most welcome as improved vision there ensures enhanced safety for all.
If you are interested in joining us any Sunday, come along to Quish’s SuperValu West End where we meet up at 11.00 am for our weekly litter pick.
